Magic Circle Close-Up Magician · Woking
Genuinely local
Woking is a short drive from home in Farnham, and it's one of the corners of Surrey I work most often. Over the years that's meant Gorse Hill, Hoebridge Golf Centre, Chobham Golf Club and Chobham Rugby Club, The Talbot at Ripley, and The Wisley just down the road, along with Brooklands Hotel and Weybridge Vandals a little further out.
Knowing a venue in advance makes a genuine difference. It tells me whether the drinks reception spills onto a terrace or stays in one room, whether guests will be standing or seated, and where the natural gaps in the evening are going to fall. That's the difference between a magician who fits into your day and one your coordinator has to work around.
Weddings, milestone birthdays, golf and rugby club dinners, corporate evenings: it's a broad mix in this part of Surrey, and the approach adapts to each.

Not only weddings
A good share of the work around Woking isn't weddings at all. Fortieths and fiftieths, golden wedding lunches, retirement dinners, charity balls and club functions all suit close-up magic for the same reason: it works in whatever room you've got, with no stage, no sound system and nothing to set up.
My aim is to meet as many of your guests as possible, so I keep each group tight and keep moving. There's no innuendo in any of it and nobody gets hauled out in front of the room, which means it lands as well with grandparents as with a table of old schoolfriends. Full details of what it costs are on the pricing page, and there's more about private events on the parties page.
See it in action
Filmed at real weddings, parties and corporate events across Surrey and Hampshire. Nothing staged, no actors, no stooges.
"Richard performed his magic at my 40th last weekend. Myself and everyone were completely blown away with his tricks! Richard made everyone smile and was super relaxed and fun. So much so, I would 100% ask him to perform for any future events, one of my guests has already asked for his details for their own occasion. Would highly recommend Richard, you will not regret it!"Stephanie, 40th Birthday, Woking
Common questions
Yes. Gorse Hill, Hoebridge Golf Centre, Chobham Golf Club and Chobham Rugby Club, The Talbot at Ripley and The Wisley are all places I've worked, along with Brooklands Hotel, Oatlands Park and Painshill Park a little further out. If your venue isn't on that list it's rarely a problem, but knowing the room in advance always helps.
From £295 for an hour up to £695 for three, the same as anywhere else I work. Woking is comfortably inside the 30 mile radius from Farnham, so there's no travel charge. Everything is set out on the pricing page.
Yes, and a good share of the Woking work is private parties: milestone birthdays, anniversaries, retirement dinners, charity evenings and club functions. The prices are identical whichever it is.
Nothing at all. No stage, no microphone, no lighting, no floor space and nothing to plug in. I carry public liability insurance and hold a current DBS certificate, and I'm happy to send either to your venue if they ask for it.
Saturdays between May and September tend to go first, often six to twelve months ahead. Midweek dates and the winter months are usually much easier at shorter notice, so it's always worth asking even if your date is close.
Tell me your date and venue, and I'll get back to you within a couple of hours.
